the Power of Salvation!

There are all kinds of power and just as many reasons that people want it, yet it’s very elusive. You can try for years to get power to gain success and still not get anywhere in your life. Still, everyone wants power and everyone needs it. The good news is, is that God has promised the power you need!

If you or someone you know is having trouble getting the power of God to work in your life, you aren’t alone. The power of God is in His word and those promises are your assurance of successful living. However, it’s impossible to claim those promises if you don’t know what they are.

More importantly, humans as a people have been cut off from God. Most of us regularly ignore or crossover God’s word. None of us, on our own, can measure up to what God wants us to be, so our connection to God is “short-circuited.” The power of God can no longer work in our lives and there’s nothing we can do about it…except to accept the simple plan God prearranged to plug us back into Himself and His power -- SALVATION!

Understand that when Jesus Christ was crucified, He intentionally suffered and died in your place to pay for all the times (in your past and in your future) that you fell short of what God wanted from you in His law. Jesus actually paid in advance the price you should have paid. He was your substitute! Now Jesus Christ can become your personal Savior and Lord. This is something you really need in order to avoid paying the price later.

John 3:16-18 states: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Tell God that you are sorry (and mean it) for all the times you fell short of His will. That’s what the bible call repentance. This means more than just confessing your sins (falling short of God’s best), but instead, turning around and going the opposite direction in your life.

The Bible says, “…all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). This means that although you may not have committed any serious crimes or even lived an immoral life, you are guilty of sin. If you want new life, you must confess your sinful condition that has separated you from God. Make a definite decision now to accept that when Jesus died on the cross, He did it for you personally, as your substitute. That makes Him your savior. The Bible says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12)

If you need the power of God to change your life, you will receive power when you open your heart to Jesus and He becomes Lord of your life. Confess Him as your risen Lord and Savior. When you sincerely repent of your sins to Jesus Christ, and receive Him into your heart, God will see you as one of His children! As a result, you will be a new person in Christ Jesus. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17). For this, you will need the gift of salvation, grace and peace as well as eternal life. If this power is what you want say this prayer and REALLY mean it:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I now trust you and will follow you as my Lord and personal Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. Father in heaven, have mercy on me. I have sinned against you, and I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Holy Spirit, come into my heart and life. I need to be changed from the inside out. Help me to live a new life of grace, peace, POWER and joy. Thank you Jesus, for dying for me. In Your name, Amen.”

If you really meant that prayer, congratulations, you are now plugged into the power of God and now have eternal life! “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:12) Make a sincere commitment to depend on the grace of God so you can live like Jesus wants you to live in order to make Him your Lord. You won’t be able to do this by yourself; you will need the power of God to do it through you. "Stay joined to me, and I will stay joined to you. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit unless it stays joined to the vine, you cannot produce fruit unless you stay joined to me." (John 15:4)

Now you need a Bible because the word of God is living and powerful! As you read it, you will discover all promises God has made to those who follow Him, and remember: God cannot lie. (Titus 1:2)
