Food Bank Mash-Up

As we mentioned elsewhere in this site, life can be hard. Coming up with good food for your family can be difficult and that's where your local Food Bank comes in. Food is expensive for everyone, so the first thing to remember is that you should never be ashamed to go to a food bank. It's what they're there for. Everyone has needed help of various kinds at one time or another (unless you were born rich, which by the way, comes with it's own set of problems) and that's what these kinds of organizations are for. The best part of this is that when you allow them to help you, they get blessed in return. It's just how things work.

We call these videos our Food Bank Mash-Up because we teach you how to make nutritious dishes using what you get from your local food bank mashed up with food and other items you get from Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, and Dollar Tree (and other Dollar stores). We hope these videos help you. We'll be adding to them as we go along. If you don't have the Grocery Outlet chain in your neck of the woods, just google discount grocery stores and add your zip code.

Food Bank Mash-Up #1 - Manhattan Style Clam Chouder

Sometimes you get things from a Food Bank that you have no idea what to do with. Case in point, a bottle of Clam juice. I held onto it and low and behold within a couple of months I got canned clams. With some onions, potatoes, a can of tomatoes and a few other ingredients from the food bank and spices from Dollar Tree, we make one of my favorite childhood meals. If you like it, you can get a PDF copy of the recipe delivered to your inbox for a donation of a dollar or more. Just Click here!

Food Bank Mash-Up #2 - Sweet & Sour Chicken

With some sweet and sour sauce packets from the Asian fast-food place down the street who won't stop giving them to us, chicken pieces and some onions from the food bank, cooking oil, white vinegar, green peppers and a can of pineapple chunks from Grocery Outlet, we make a tasty dish served over rice (also from the food bank) that makes a delicious meal. BTW, If you don't have sweet and sour sauce packets the remedy is in the video. Food Bank Mash-Up #3 - Salmon Croquettes

What in the world can you do with canned Salmon? We'll add some bread crumbs, onions and a few other ingredients from the food bank, from Grocery Outlet and Dollar Tree and make an unusual dish that could become a family favorite. If you like it, you can get a PDF copy of the recipe delivered to your inbox for a donation of a dollar or more. Just Click here!

Food Bank Mash-Up #4 - Italian chicken stew

This is one of my own recipes and has become a favorite of everyone who's tried it; especially my wife. It's got lots of protein and veggies so it's good and healthy, plus you get a big pot when you make it. It freezes well too. You can get a downloadable PDF of the recipe when you make a donation of $1.00 or more to the ministry. Just Click here!
