At Gideon Unlimited, we do not actively solicit donations for our support. Instead, just as did the Apostle Paul, we have “Tent Maker Jobs” we use to fuel our ministry. However, we do need contributions for the large scale projects mentioned elsewhere in this site and we are NOT encouraging ANYONE NOT to give. Look at giving as an investment that has great return.

 

The Bible says “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put right into your lap. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

Remember to always give where you gain Biblical knowledge. Also, If you are in a small church that needs your money to keep the lights on and to pay the staff, please do support those men and women of God, but even more, is there an elderly person in your neighborhood living on cat food because they can't eat AND afford their medicine? Buy them groceries!

Do you know under-nourished kids in beat-up clothes; holey shoes and unsuitable winter wear because their parents can't afford much? Help that family out!

 

Do you know some people whose home has been foreclosed or they've been evicted because of financial difficulties? If you don't now, chances are you will and perhaps sooner than you think! Maybe you and some of your friends could help them find a place to live and donate monthly toward rent until they get back on their feet. You might even want to open your home to them!

 

Remember: it's our Christian responsibility to take care of the poor, the widow and the orphan. Frankly Jewish and Catholic ministries, Civic Organizations and even some government institutions do a better job of it than we, the Christian community, do. How sad is that!?

 

We have to do better!

“Jesus said, ‘Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’, so have you done for Me.” Matt. 25:34-40

 

It's time we REALLY took this to heart!

 

Now I know that outside of giving for the support of that small church or other government registered organizations, none of this will get you a tax receipt, BUT you'll help people; people who REALLY need it. Plus you'll get treasure in heaven and aren't these the things that really count?

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal." Matthew 6:19-20
